I am doing that exact thing with the rose centerpiece for my wedding centerpieces and I am wondering how you get the rose to stay in the vase? It likes to float to the top and I don't want it to move around at all, especially if someone was to bump a table or something. I don't know what tulle is, and I don't understand what you mean by using the wire? Or are there any other ways to hold the rose down?

Thanks for all the great comments about the rose in the glass centerpiece. Since so many of you asked for instructions, we've posted them at http://www.howtodothings.com/family-relationships/how-to-create-a-floating-rose-candle-centerpieces. Have fun with this do-it-yourself favorite and let us know how it turns out!

Meghan is correct in her answer but what you do is take the glass marbles and wrap them in tulle then stick the rose in and wire it shut. You then put it in a glass cylander, fill it with water, and add the floating candle.

To me the rose glass looks like it is a cylinder vase with red vase filler (or red glass pieces) There is one rose in there that is stuck in the vase filler- I cannot tell if the rose is real or silk but either would work for this. The vase is then filled with water just above the rose and there is a floating candle on top. The vase is sitting on top of a square mirror with rose pedals and a couple pieces of the vase filler on that.
